Not sure which one? Here’s the simple test.

Choose the Non-Lucrative Visa if

you’re retired or financially independent and will live on pensions, investments, rentals, or savings — without working in Spain.

Choose the Digital Nomad Visa if

you work remotely or freelance for companies or clients outside Spain and want to keep earning while you live there.

The Non-Lucrative Visa does not allow you to work — even remotely. If you’ll keep working online, the Digital Nomad Visa is the correct, safe route. Not sure where you fit? We’ll tell you straight in a free assessment.

Both Spain routes are covered by our money-back assurance. If your application is refused, we refund the fees you paid us — apart from Spain’s initial registration fee.

FAQ

Questions, answered honestly

What’s the main difference between the two Spain routes?
Whether you’ll work. The Non-Lucrative Visa is for living on passive income without working; the Digital Nomad Visa is for those who keep working remotely for non-Spanish clients or employers.
Can I work remotely on the Non-Lucrative Visa?
No. It does not allow any work, including remote work for a foreign employer. If you’ll work online, the Digital Nomad Visa is the right route.
Can my family come with me?
Yes — your spouse and children are included, with free public schooling and health cover arranged.
Do I need to buy property or invest?
No. Spain’s Golden Visa ended in 2025; neither of these routes requires any property purchase or investment.
How long until permanent residency or citizenship?
Permanent residency after 5 years of legal residence, and Spanish citizenship after 10.
Will I have to pay tax in Spain?
If you spend more than 183 days a year in Spain you become a tax resident. The Digital Nomad route can use a favourable flat-tax regime; we’ll connect you with proper tax advice for your situation.
What if I’m refused?
Both routes are covered by our money-back assurance — your fees are refunded apart from Spain’s initial registration fee.
